Wednesday already?

ok..quick recap of what i'm doing, done, did, wanna do.

On vacation this week...yeah me.  I'm going to take another week off before the end of the year also just don't know when.  If I don't use the time, I'll lose it.

Sunday: Memorial Service for Dan.  So many folks there..about half were SCA. So many I did't get a chance to talk with and thank them for coming.  The slide show of pics was great....you needed tissues.   I cried a lot during the ceremony....very powerful.  The minister was great. Daryl was amazing and so was Mark...I can't speak at anything like this.   Some folks put together that Melyssa aka Skye were the same person and that yes she is my daughter and yes was Dan's gf.   Daryl's first words to me: 'We were almost related."   Krakken's brother Keith said, " We love M/Skye..she's like one of the family."

Sunday nite: drove to M's; took care of Buddy my grand dog; had late dinner, bought a few groceries.  M has been traveling for work so much besides the two weeks she was in Virginia with Dan's family.

Monday 9/22: Worked in M's garden for a couple hours; Buddy decided to dig a huge hole in the grass.  Why can't he dig where I need a hole dug?  Did more grocery shopping.  Did M's overflowing laundry hoping I didn't shrink anything.  Folded/hung some; unmentionables left for M to put away. Deviled eggs made;  chicken pot pie for dinner. Made two apple pies.

Tuesday 9/23: More garden work, finally got the lily of the valley in although yes they look bad this time of year, the roots were fine and active.  Took Buddy for a car ride as the walk I attempted I cut short, he is just too strong.  Picked up some local corn...scrumptious for dinner.  Unloaded dishwasher, made baked mac/cheese for dinner; fruit salad; and had the deviled eggs left from Monday.

Had nice long talk with M during/after dinner.  We will never know what might have been with Dan and M....and can only go forward now.  I think Dan will be watching over her and possibly bring someone into her life that can bring her much happiness.

M says she is going to Coronation on Sat 9/27: Darius is going to dedicate his realm to Dan's memory.  She is torn, as she is studying for next cpa exam Oct  3rd and has lost a great deal of time to study.  But Mark has his way of making her feel she needs to go...possibly she said she can bring her laptop there and study..who knows.

Drove home...only one wierdo that really gave me a hard time on I-90.

Today: did get some emailing done late last nite.  I had NO computer access at M's as I didn't bring laptop down..should have.  I wouldn't use her's once she was home...she was stressed enough.

Read about Duke Morghun.  I served in the kitchen when Bergental did his coronation. The first one I think it was? or maybe the second?  I remember the first time I met him: I was at another group's event.  There was a sandy haired man sitting between the days' events and before the nites happenings.   He was stitching...actually embroidering, I can't remember now.   I talked with him a bit about his stitching; loved the colors.  I only knew him as Morguhn...and later found out who he was.   A most remarkable man.

After 12noon, window fellow from HD coming to get measurements.  Going to replace porch windows finally.. Although yes it would be nice not to spend the money, it's needed.  Lots of the wood is bad, windows are really really bad shape.

Later today...wheeeee      it'll be fun taking My feline friend to the Vet's.

Name Meme

Very rarely do I look at these...but Since Elwynne posted hers..I looked up both of my names

It got the Type A personality wrong, but maybe that is cause I'm a split personality? and only sometimes type A?

Obama? the beginning of the end??

OK..not to feel too radical here but this article that I read really gave me the creeps.  why?  cause visions of the apoalypse was in my  head.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=74231                 ok read it for yourself.   The thought the our next president might have gotten into Harvard, made the head of the school paper when he didn't write; and has been influenced by those who hate Jews and Blacks..it makes you wonder.   Why would a middle east billionaire Muslim want anything to do with a black kid in America?

Be afraid....very afraid.

At the request of Master Krakken and his family. I would like to thank you all
for your support over the past two weeks. To say the least, it has been
extremely difficult for everyone, and your emails have been awesome and a very
big help in such a sad time. A service was held earlier today with full military
honors for Danny at the Porstmouth Naval Base and his Captain's words were truly
amazing. He tied together Danny's 3 greatest passions, his artwork, his naval
carreer and his love of archery. We will never get an answer as to why this has
happened and NO parent should ever have to say goodbye to their child. With that
said there will be a There will be a mundane Christian Memorial Service to
celebrate Danny's life. The service will be held at the East Woodstock
Congregational Church on September 21st at 2pm. The service is open to anyone
who wishes to attend.

Many of you have asked me what you can do to help this truly amazing family at
their greatest time of need and I have one simple answer show your support one
more time on September 21st.

ps.

Mundane attire only.

Daniel and Skye

Daniel was a remarkable person.  AT age 13 he became Grand Master Bowman and was presented with award at Pennsic 8/18/99.  At age 15, He became the youngest EK Queen's Champion 6/16/01 beating out even his father and only loosing to Mark Squirrelsbane for being King's Champion.

He had re-upped for six more years in the Navy in order to take advantage of the college program.

test of faith

It's a test of faith when someone so young dies.  UH, it's a test of faith when someone dies while so many who are mean and miserable live.    Daniel was 24 years young....with the rest of his life ahead of him.  I had a feeling that he shouldn't have the surgery, that he really didn't need it.  I had said to my daughter...he should postpone it.  Apparently they had done that once already but the Navy wanted things done and finished.   There wasn't anyway that I could convey my feelings for not wanting him to have the surgery.

24 years.  Not enough time at all.

This morning I got dressed as usual for work....then realized I had black pants with a scrub top that has teddy bears: in navy outfits.  I cried...again.

Driving to work..My thoughts were on Daniel and the family, as soon as I turned on the radio I heard Garth Brooks "The River"

You know a dream is like a river
Ever changin' as it flows
And a dreamer's just a vessel
Trying to learn from what's behind you
And never knowing what's in store
Makes each day a constant battle
Just to stay between the shores..and

I will sail my vessel
"Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters ar my sky
I'll never reach my destinatin
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
"Til the river runs dry

Read the rest of the song....
Daniel is ok now...
We just have to learn to keep living.

Such Sadness

I have been crying most of the nite.

Daniel...son of Krakken Gnashbone...and boyfriend to my daughter Skye..passed away last nite.  Daniel had minor surgery on Monday and before he was in recover room he was having problems.  Apparently the vocal cords swelled cutting off his air.  He was in cardiac arrest for 20 mins before they brought him back.  When they tried taking him out of the medically induced coma on Thuesday he had seizures.  Thursday Daniel started to rapidly go thru severe medical complications.

Krakken, Mark, Tam, and Skye were with him. Mark has said that the Navy has taken care of them in so many ways.  Daniel had come back from a 6 month submarine tour two months ago.  He was going to be home this weekend... going to a Red Sox game Friday with Skye.  Possibly coming up here to visit with me and go to the Scottish Games on Saturday.

My heart... is broken.  My daughter...her heart has been ripped out of her body.  Krakken and Daniels Mom....have lost a wonderful son.

End of vacation for me

End of Vacation for me... boo hoo.

1. I have been changed to a different shift:   not by my choice, but since I dont' want to put up with the attitudes of the doctors, I've stepped down from senior tech position.  I have NEVER worked with radiologist who are so belittleling to techs.  They are not supportive of anything we do. The only feedback we get is negative.

2.  Had a great weekend with family. Grand niece's baby shower.... why dont' they marry, have jobs, and then start having kids?   Spent all day with daughter also.

3. Momma Mia!  go see it. I don't LIKE musicals.  really..but I LOVED this.  ABBA ABBA ABBA

4. can you say Peridontal surgery.  yeah, fun. Going to happen in September.

5. Hey Manny...miss the Socks yet?

Can't wait  for the next vacation which is at the end of September.   Yeah I just get too much time off for the yuckiest job.  Go me.  So att this point I have 22 more days I can take off...and I'm accrueing them as I go. So I'll have to take another week off by the end of the year.  My holidays will be covered anyways.

To all those at Pennsic.... silante

Oh boy...who really wanted to do this?

1. Manny get over yourself.  Don't know what his true hassle is with the Sox but the fans don't deserve it.

2. Plumbing: the master plumber in my family lives hours away...lots of good that does  LOL   If you ever have to replace some pipe and can't get the water totally off or you still have a dribble:  stuff bread into the pipe.  Do the work, sauter the piece and attach fittings.  The bread will dissolve and wash thru the pipes.  Of course if it's more like a constant pouring like we had: have someone [me] use a torch to heat the pipe a couple feet away from where you are putting the new attachment.  This will ..hopefully...evaporate the water so it won't get to the cut off end.  This worked much better for us.  Still cleaning up bits of bread, saran wrap, newspaper that spewed all over the basement from our other attempts.

3.  The demolition is done in the bath now the building begins.   Who wanted to do this?  LOL  After many trips to the local building supply places we now have a new plywood floor over the original planks.  All the holes and roughness on the walls have been filled in.  Will sand when completely dry.  The walls are made of a cement board so anyplace that screws or nails were used improperly and then removed improperly, leave ragged areas.  We'll sand the ceiling and top walls also today in preperation for painting.  The only thing left in the bathroom is the ceiling fan/light, the pretty lite over the sink, and the bathtub.  We aren't going to dig the tub out...it's in good shape but you can tell they had to 'fit' it into the area. Enough said.

4. I've learned so much about beadboard and flooring that I feel like a genius.  LOL  The flooring is going to be sheet vinyl.  I love the stones and tiles but the cost was more, application was more, and although I"m quite rounded, falling on stone or tile hurts.   On the quest for beadboard today.  One place had the wider variety which I think would look good in a kitchen but was too 'country' look for me.  The already white layered board is great, but any touchups over nailholes or scratches is too hard to match.  So today, off I go to another supply place which does have, in stock, what I want.

5. Jeepers I've been writitng a lot this week .

6.  I wanted to cut out a couple of dresses...one German in a blue linen and the other possibly Tudor in a green garbadine.  Havne't even been near the cloth.  But today/tonight I am going to work on some of the tunics I do have which never got totally done.  i.e.  didn't finish the trim, lining, all the do dads.   I love my Byzantine but have to spiff it up.  Maybe I'll make another collar also.

7.  Beads.  yeah haven't done anything with my beads this week.  Have a couple of necklaces I want to get done.  Did get the new catalog from Fire Mountain...drool.

8.  Top reason I'm not going to Pennsic: while on vacation on the Vineyard, I brought home a little friend who carries lyme disease.  Got the antibiotics when the bull's eye rash showed up along with headaches and other symptoms.  But a side affect from meds: you can get sun poisoning even months afterwards.  So it's best I don't take any chances.  Second reason: I really wanted the bathroom done...and the next week I have off I really wanted to go to the Cape.

For everyon going to Pennsic or there already.. be safe, hydrate, have one of Rosa's ice for me.

sunday sunday

It's been a long day...and I haven't done much.  Emotionally it's been crazy cause of 'folks who are friends' talking about 'folks who are friends' who apparently aren't real friends.  Lip service.  I have no patience with folks who gossip. Many phone calls; many hours; many words.   Why can't folks just be honest?    Headache from the very waking this a.m.; slept more on couch; neck/shoulders sore.

I think I have done enough major sewing to get through Pennsic.  One tunic just needs a hem and the basket liner needs a casing.   I had found one blue silk tunic that just needs the sides sewn, hem, and trim so I might also get that done.  If all else fails I just won't trim anything.    Actually there is only one Italian Renn that has any trim on it at this point.     Five favors need to be finished but they will be quick.   I'm not doing the little things as either they will come with me as projects to do or they will wait.

Looking forward to meeting a few folks that I've chatted with online.  We have been invited out for dinner on Sunday after the KW beaders meeting that I some how am 'in charge' of.      I'm using CD's for my paper, it'll give folks a much better quality for the pics.  I have 12 which I'll give out to those who want; but the CD I can always have at my merchant booth.

only 3 days to work this week...then packing and driving to Pennsic.  Have a couple of full days worth of classes that I really want to get to but we'll see.  Checked updates; I"m going to pring out the calendar wednesday nite.

Been asked to talk about Egyptian socks at the Oct knitters group; also give update on anything from Pennsic.
